author snapshot: judi mccoy 1. What inspired you to write?
Answer: I’ve always been a reader, but I read so many books that I thought could have been written better, so I thought ‘why not try to write one?’ and see how I’d do. Little did I know how difficult it would be. About six months after I began my first book, I had newfound respect for all writers.
2. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?
Answer: I’m a women’s gymnastic judge, so I’ve very busy from November through May with that sport. I also raise orchids and love to garden.
3. Out of all of the books you have written, which was the most fun to write and why?
Answer: The most fun would have to be the first of my Angel series for Kensington. I’d never dealt with heavenly spirits before and really loved starting that series.
4. Are there any naughty episodes in your novels that mirror real life?
Answer: Since I write whimsical romance (fun and very fairy tale like) most of the heroines come from another realm, but the situations I put them in with the hero is very much what happens in real life. In my latest book, One Night With a Goddess, in the night in question the hero and heroine get locked in a storage pantry and things start to happen.
5. What is your favorite time of the day: morning, afternoon, or night?
Answer: Morning, hands down. I love watching the sunrise, planning my day, doing the crossword puzzle, cryptogram, and Sudoku, in my daily paper. Having coffee on my back deck (which overlooks a lake) and planning my day.
6. If you could cast yourself as a character in one of your novels, who would it be?
Answer: I’d be the heroine in my NEW series, which isn’t sold, but is being sent out by my agent. Ellie is a dog walker in Manhattan who can talk to her dog and those she walks. Very fun to write.
7. What did you do to celebrate the publishing of your first novel?
Answer: I dragged my critique partners to my local Walden and we took pictures, cried, took more pictures, and went out to lunch.
8. Is there anything you’d like to share with your readers?
Answer: One huge thing: I’m so grateful to them for my writing success. Without them, an author really doesn’t have a career. I enjoy getting e-mails and I answer every one. Judi's novels: Judi's website: |
